Demonstrated Attributes
The following graduate attributes were developed through the UniSQ Master of IT program and demonstrated most clearly through the DataCare Connect capstone project.
- ICT Professional Knowledge
Applied advanced knowledge of full stack web development, REST API architecture, relational database design and application security in a real-world project context. Demonstrated understanding of the Australian Privacy Act 1988, Australian Privacy Principles and ACS professional standards. - Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
Led a formal requirements gap audit that identified five critical missing platform features. Independently researched and implemented HMAC-SHA256 cryptographic API authentication, a solution that required synthesising academic literature with practical implementation under time pressure. - Communication
Produced technical documentation for government data consumers, contributed to the final project report and maintained a living README and API documentation site. Communicated clearly with team members, academic supervisors and a real-world client throughout the project. - Teamwork and Collaboration
Contributed as a cross-functional team member in a three-person Agile squad across eight weeks, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives and peer code reviews. Rotated the Scrum Master role and experienced both contributor and facilitation responsibilities. - Ethical and Professional Conduct
Adhered to a team Code of Conduct aligned with ACS standards. Made privacy-by-design decisions throughout platform development, including data minimisation, optional inclusivity fields with transparent explanatory text and role segregated data access. - Self-Directed and Lifelong Learning
Formulated and solved technical problems autonomously within the project, going beyond prescribed coursework to implement features required by the real client. Demonstrated the ability to learn new technologies independently and apply them in a professional context.
