Background
I am originally from Kandy, Sri Lanka and I am currently based in Australia completing my Master of Information Technology (Software Development) at the University of Southern Queensland. My academic journey began at the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) in Sri Lanka, where I completed a Certificate, Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Software Engineering, graduating with a GPA of 3.80 and 3.58 respectively. I then completed a BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Second Class, First Division) at the University of Staffordshire.
Before returning to study, I worked as a Software Engineer at RCA Technology (May 2023 – August 2024, full-time, remote) and completed internships at LankaPropertyWeb and Wysheit Technologies. These roles gave me practical experience across the full web development lifecycle from frontend UI development and REST API design to database architecture and client-facing feature delivery.
My capstone project at UniSQ, building DataCare Connect for The Future Care Network, was the most formative professional experience of my studies. It required me to design and implement a secure full-stack platform for a real Australian client, serving families, educators and government agencies in the regional childcare sector. The experience sharpened my technical skills and deepened my understanding of professional ethics, privacy law, Agile teamwork and stakeholder communication.
Outside of work and study, I am interested in machine learning, data analytics and open source software. I hold skills in Python, Java, PHP, Vue.js, React, MySQL, MongoDB, Firebase and Power BI.
