Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for the Junior Developer position advertised on seek.com.au (Job ID 91852331). The role’s emphasis on strong foundational programming skills, the ability to work across multiple languages and a genuine openness to different technical backgrounds aligns closely with my profile as a software engineering graduate and working professional with 2+ years of industry experience.

I hold a Master of Information Technology (Software Development) from the University of Southern Queensland, based right here in Queensland, as well as a BSc (Hons) Computer Science from the University of Staffordshire. My programming foundation spans Python, JavaScript and TypeScript, Java, PHP and SQL. While C++ and Lua are technologies I am yet to use in production, the role description openly invites candidates from varied backgrounds who can learn quickly and work as generalists and that is precisely the kind of developer I am.

In my most recent major project, DataCare Connect, I independently researched and implemented HMAC-SHA256 signed API authentication, a cryptographic pattern with no prescribed coursework example, by synthesising academic literature and technical documentation, then validating the implementation through rigorous testing. This is the kind of problem-solving and self-directed learning your team is looking for. I am equally comfortable diving into unfamiliar parts of a codebase and shipping solutions as I am building new systems from scratch.

Prior to my studies, I worked as a Software Engineer at RCA Technology for over a year, delivering and maintaining features across a full production web application in an Agile remote team. I also completed internships at LankaPropertyWeb and Wysheit Technologies where I built skills across JavaScript, CSS, MySQL and multiple frameworks. I am experienced in collaborative Agile environments, peer code review and working within teams of similar size to the team of eight described in your advertisement.
